Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1958-D 5-cent WRPM-014, this Jefferson Nickel exhibits a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark where the secondary D impression is both displaced and rotated relative to the primary, creating a more complex overlap pattern than a simple directional shift. The tilted component means the two D impressions are not parallel to each other, producing varying degrees of visible separation around the letter's curves and straight elements. Die markers on the obverse include a short die gouge below the right side of the N in IN — a compact but distinctive marker in the motto area. Reverse markers include a die scratch running northeast from the right side of the center crossbar of the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM, a directional striation documenting the die's surface condition and helping fingerprint this specific reverse die.
