1957-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-003

Description

RPM-003 on the 1957 (D) Roosevelt Dime shows the D mintmark punched over a previous D rotated counterclockwise (D/D Rotated CCW), attributed by VarietyVista. Die markers: UVC-301 and DMR-005. Stage A is early die state (unconfirmed). The counterclockwise rotation of the secondary impression means the secondary D is offset from the primary along a circular arc rather than a straight directional shift, requiring careful examination of the serif geometry under magnification to confirm the CCW direction. Roosevelt Dimes from 1946 through 1964 were struck in 90% silver, making RPM-003 a 90% silver repunched mintmark variety. The rotated CCW mintmark direction is among the more visually interesting RPM types, as the angular displacement produces a secondary image at a consistent rotational offset from the primary punch.
