1957-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-002

Description

A D/D Rotated CCW variety documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Roosevelt Silver Dime features extensive die surface damage across four stages. Die markers UVC-300 / DMR-004: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with heavy abrasion on the left side of reverse at MDS, numerous die scratches east-west on the reverse, and numerous die scratches north-south on the obverse at MDS; Stage C with a circular die scratch pattern in the mintmark area at LDS, obverse at LDS; Stage D with numerous die scratches north-south on the reverse at VLDS, obverse at VLDS. The circular scratch pattern around the mintmark at Stage C suggests possible mintmark area reworking or rotational contact damage. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm, seven years before the Coinage Act of 1965 ended silver dime production.
