This 1956 proof Jefferson Nickel is a COMBO variety, with the Stage B reverse die identified as WDDR-020, meaning the same die marriage exhibits both a doubled die obverse and a doubled die reverse. COMBO varieties command particular collector interest because two distinct attributable errors appear on a single coin. The Class II hub doubling produces visible spread on LIBERTY, the star, and the date across two documented die stages designated A and B. Close examination reveals the doubling on these design elements, where the Class II distortion created lateral displacement between hubbing impressions.
