Description

Assigned UVC-229 and DMR-004, this 1952-S Roosevelt Dime RPM-002 shows an eastward S/S repunched mintmark with the secondary S punch offset to the east of the primary impression. The mintmark is cataloged as MMS-002, the Trumpet Tail style used at the San Francisco Mint during this era. Struck in 90% silver, the 1952-S Roosevelt Dime was produced at San Francisco alongside the Philadelphia and Denver issues. The eastward shift of the secondary punch is the defining characteristic that separates RPM-002 from the other 1952-S Roosevelt Dime repunched mintmark varieties in the VarietyVista catalog. The Trumpet Tail mintmark style (MMS-002) is a recognized diagnostic feature for this subset of 1952-S varieties, assisting attribution alongside the directional analysis of the secondary mintmark impression.
