Description

A significant variety carrying the Cherrypickers designation FS-101, this 1952-D Washington Quarter DDO-001 exhibits strong spread on LIBERTY, medium spread on the date, and light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST — a graduated intensity pattern radiating from the area of greatest hub displacement. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-0796 and DMR-006, the obverse is also identified as ODV-005, with MMS-002 on the reverse. Three die states are documented: Stage A shows the obverse in early die state with the reverse MMS-002 also in early die state; Stage B is mid die state though unconfirmed; and Stage C shows the obverse in late die state with a die crack running from RIBUS of PLURIBUS to the rim, recording progressive die deterioration. The FS-101 designation places this variety in the Cherrypickers' Guide, signaling its collectibility and market recognition. Multiple attribution frameworks converge here — VarietyVista's UVC catalog, the ODV obverse design variety system, and the Fivaz-Stanton numbering — making DDO-001 one of the most thoroughly cross-referenced Washington Quarter doubled die obverses of the early 1950s.
