1952-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-002

Description

Showing a D/D Rotated Clockwise repunched mintmark, this 1952-D Jefferson Nickel RPM-002 documents a rotational displacement where the secondary D was turned clockwise from the primary. Cataloged by VarietyVista with codes UVC-381 and DMR-003, struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at Denver during the Korean War era. Die progression spans three stages: Stage A (EDS), Stage B (MDS), and Stage C with obverse and reverse in LDS. Rotational RPMs differ from directional varieties — rather than a linear shift, the secondary letter overlaps the primary along a curved rotational axis, creating a distinctive blurred appearance under magnification. As RPM-002, this is the second most prominent repunched mintmark for the 1952-D. Felix Schlag's Jefferson Nickel was in its fourteenth year at Denver, and hand-punching continued generating the same RPM variety range that had characterized the series since its 1938 debut.
