Description

Carrying attribution codes UVC-851 and DMR-007, the 1949-S DDO-002 Jefferson nickel exhibits light hub-doubling spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the star, and the date. This four-element doubling distribution across the obverse motto, legend, decorative device, and date is a recurring pattern in Jefferson nickel doubled dies, reflecting the geometry of the hubbing misalignment. The San Francisco Mint struck 36.5 million nickels in 1949, a relatively modest production figure that was part of the postwar normalization of coinage output after the high wartime mintages.
