Error
Description
An S/S South variety using MMS-002 (Trumpet Tail), this VarietyVista-documented 1948-S Jefferson Nickel is notable for having its reverse die also listed as DDR-001, combining a repunched mintmark with a doubled die reverse on one specimen. Die markers UVC-365 / DMR-006: Stage A with reverse and obverse at EDS; Stage B with both at MDS; Stage C with both at LDS. The fully confirmed three-stage progression — without any "unconfirmed" notations — indicates specimens from each stage have been positively documented. Composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, struck at the San Francisco Mint. The Trumpet Tail S punch adds tooling documentation, and the DDR-001 pairing elevates collector interest by doubling the documented production anomalies on a single coin.
