The left-to-right intensification gradient on E PLURIBUS UNUM adds a directional component to the Class II classification: while the primary distortion mechanism is hub tilt rather than linear shift, the progressive increase in spread magnitude across the inscription line reveals the specific orientation of the tilt axis — positioned to the left of the motto where the hub and die maintained closer contact, generating increasing angular offset as distance from the tilt contact line grows rightward.
