1947-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-003

Description

An S/S West variety using MMS-002 (Trumpet Tail) punch identification, this VarietyVista-documented 1947-S Roosevelt Silver Dime from the San Francisco Mint tracks four progressive die states. Die markers UVC-164 / DMR-007: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with mirrored fields on either side of the flame and three die scratches north-south in front of mouth at LMDS; Stage D with die clash on left side at LDS and a light die crack east-west through upper hair at LDS. The Trumpet Tail designation identifies a specific S punch variant with a flared terminal on the lower curve, helping researchers track mintmark tooling across different Roosevelt Dime dies. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm, this early Roosevelt Dime is from just the second year of the series.
