Description

Medium spread on the designer's initials positioned side by side, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY characterizes this 1946-D Roosevelt Silver Dime DDO, the sixth documented for this date and mint. John R. Sinnock's Roosevelt portrait, introduced in 1946 following FDR's death, was new to production that year, and first-year design dies sometimes exhibit higher rates of hubbing anomalies as mint engravers refine the hub-to-die process for unfamiliar relief patterns. Die tracking designations are UVC-044 and DMR-008. Stage A represents the early die state (unconfirmed). Stage B at MDS shows a die scratch connecting the D of GOD to the last T of TRUST and a U-shaped die gouge to the right of the middle bar of the E of ONE. Stage C at late die state remains unconfirmed. The obverse is noted as ODV-001. Denver's 1946 dime mintage was approximately 61.0 million, reflecting the post-war demand surge for circulating coinage. The 90% silver composition provides intrinsic metallic value alongside the variety premium. Cataloged by VarietyVista. Specimen photographs are sought for updated digital documentation.
