Description

An S/S West variety with the reverse also listed as DDR-001, this VarietyVista-documented 1945-S wartime silver Jefferson Nickel is a dual-variety coin combining RPM with doubled die reverse. Die markers UVC-322 / DMR-010 track four stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse and obverse at MDS; Stage C with die crack right dome south between pillar #3 and #4 at LDS and obverse at LDS; Stage D with die scratches north-south on upper left reverse at VLDS and die crack in upper hair at VLDS. The pillar-area die crack at Stage C followed by emerging die scratches and hair cracking at Stage D documents cascading deterioration across both faces. Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, the DDR-001 cross-listing elevates this variety's collector interest beyond a standard RPM.
