1942-D Doubled Die Obverse DDO-006

Description

Light spread on RTY of LIBERTY defines DDO-006 on the 1942 Denver Mint Washington Silver Quarter, a wartime issue struck in the standard 90% silver composition before the mint's resources shifted further toward war production. Die markers tracked under UVC-0257 and DMR-008 document three stages: Stage A at Early Die State (unconfirmed), Stage B showing a light die crack across the upper hair at Mid Die State with the reverse also at MDS, and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The Stage B die crack across the upper hair provides a useful secondary diagnostic — its presence confirms the die had progressed beyond its earliest state, and its absence narrows the specimen to Stage A.
