1935-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1935-S 1¢ WRPM-002 and cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #2 and Coppercoins 1935S-1MM-002, this Lincoln Wheat Cent displays a repunched S mintmark with multiple die markers across both faces. Obverse markers include circular die scratches running through the head, jacket, neck, and ear of Lincoln’s portrait, a large die chip at the back of the head west from center of the ear, a die chip dot in the field well above the 5 in the date at approximately the 3:00 position, and a die chip dot in the field east from the top of the 5. Reverse markers include a NNW/SSE die crack through the upper left wheat lines, die chips on the upper left wheat grains, and a NNE/SSW die crack on the upper right wheat grains.
