Description

New Deal recovery was well underway by 1935, and Denver's cent production reflected the improving economy — creating the die consumption that generates repunched mintmark varieties. WRPM-006 (Wexler Variety ID: 1935-D 1¢ WRPM-006) is the sixth cataloged RPM for the 1935 Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent, documenting another instance where the D mintmark punch was applied multiple times to a working die. The 1935-D had a mintage of 47.00 million cents, one of the larger Denver productions of the mid-1930s, and the substantial die pool required to strike that quantity ensured numerous opportunities for mintmark placement variations.
