Description

Light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST characterizes DDO-015 of the 1934 Washington Quarter, attributed by VarietyVista on the Medium Motto obverse die variety designated ODV-002. The 1934 Washington Quarter exists in two major obverse hub varieties: the Heavy Motto and Medium Motto, distinguished by the boldness of IN GOD WE TRUST. DDO-015 occurs on the Medium Motto version where the lettering is thinner. Die marker records document three progressive stages: Stage A in early die state is unconfirmed, Stage B shows a strong die scratch northeast behind the ribbon end at mid-die state with the reverse also at mid-die state, and Stage C exhibits a die crack across the bust in late die state with the reverse likewise in late die state. Cross-referenced as UVC-0468 and DMR-021. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the 1934 Washington Quarter is a first-year issue of Flanagan's enduring design, and the Medium Motto distinction adds a further layer of collectibility.
