Description

Cross-referenced as FS-101, the 1934 DDO-001 is the premier doubled die variety for the Washington Quarter series and displays strong spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and LIBERTY. The obverse die is ODV-002, the Medium Motto variant. This variety progresses through six documented die stages across two die marker sets. Under UVC-0009 and DMR-004, Stage A is early die state, Stage B pairs a mid-die-state obverse with the reverse listed as DDR-001 at MDS, Stage C develops a light die crack in the upper hair at MDS with the reverse at LMDS, and Stage D shows a die crack from the forehead to the L of LIBERTY at LDS. Under UVC-0010 and DMR-005, Stage E shows the obverse at VLDS paired with a changed reverse die at EDS, and Stage F reaches VVLDS with a die crack from the rim to the wing through the right vertical bar of the M in AMERICA at MDS.
