1929-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001
Error
Description
Holding the primary catalog position for the 1929-S date, this VarietyVista-documented Buffalo Nickel records a mid-production obverse die change tracked through two UVC pairings. Die markers UVC-092 / DMR-002: Stage A with reverse at EDS, a die crack from the middle second feather northeast into the braid at LDS, and a die chip on the die crack. Then UVC-093 / DMR-003: Stage B with reverse at EMDS, the obverse die changed at EMDS, and die scratches under the chin; Stage C with reverse at MDS and a die crack across the top of the date and southeast through the ribbon at MDS; Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The obverse die change between Stages A and B is evidenced by the fresh EMDS condition replacing the prior die. Struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm at the San Francisco Mint.
