Eighth in the Wexler-documented obverse doubled die census for the 1927 Lincoln wheat cent, WDDO-008 presents a distinctive diagnostic: two extra eyelids visible below Lincoln's main eyelid on Victor David Brenner's portrait. The doubled eyelid phenomenon occurs across multiple Lincoln cent hub-doubled dies and represents one of the most visually intuitive doubling diagnostics in the series, as the anatomical structure of the eye naturally draws the viewer's attention and makes displaced secondary eyelid lines immediately recognizable even to novice variety collectors.
