Description

Attributed in 2010 by Jason Henrichsen, the 1924-P VAM-1AQ2 is classified as II1 - B2a (Die File Lines Face, Swirled File Lines Above ONE, Die Break N-G) and rated I-2 R-6, placing its known population at just 1 to 12 specimens. The reverse exhibits a radial die crack extending from the rim up to the O in GOD, accompanied by a displaced field break below the letters N and G. Displaced field breaks occur when die metal separates along the crack and shifts, creating a raised shelf of displaced design on the struck coin. The obverse shows die file lines across Liberty's face, while the reverse displays swirled file lines above the word ONE, evidence of hand finishing performed during die preparation or maintenance. The R-6 rarity suggests this die pair was retired shortly after the crack developed, limiting the number of coins struck in this advanced die state. Multiple diagnostic features make VAM-1AQ2 one of the more complex 1924-P varieties to fully document.
