1911-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-005

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1911-D 1¢ WRPM-005, this early Lincoln Wheat Cent exhibits a D/D tilted (rotated) repunched mintmark — meaning the initial D mintmark punch was applied at a different rotational angle than the final corrective impression, creating a rotated offset where the two D images appear partially overlapping but at slightly different orientations. Obverse die markers include a die chip (dot) in the field east of Lincoln's throat, providing a quick identification point on the portrait side. The reverse carries two very light, nearly east-west die scratches connecting the B and I of PLURIBUS — subtle linear marks that fingerprint this specific reverse working die. No cross-references to other cataloging systems such as CONECA are currently known, suggesting this variety is primarily documented within the Wexler RPM Files.
