Description

Carrying both the SUPER CD (Super Clash Die) and WOW! MORGAN VAM designations, the 1901-O Morgan Dollar VAM-25A is one of the elite dual-designated varieties in the series — recognized simultaneously for exceptional die clash strength and overall visual impact. The classification is VAM-25A III26 · C3a: Slanted Date, Clashed Obverse In and st. The obverse is strongly clashed, bearing a partial incuse In of "In" from the reverse motto next to Liberty's neck and a partial incuse st of "Trust" in the right hair vee — both impressions well-developed and visible on high-grade examples. Discovered by Ash Harrison in July 2004, VAM-25A is cataloged within the Slanted Date die pairing framework of the 1901-O series. Struck in 90% silver at the New Orleans Mint under George T. Morgan's design, the 1901-O is a lower-mintage New Orleans issue, adding rarity context to an already premium variety. The Super CD designation honors the clash strength; the WOW! rating reflects collectibility and visual appeal — a combination placing VAM-25A among the most sought-after 1901-O Morgan Dollar varieties in the Van Allen-Mallis catalog.
