Description
The 1889 (CC) Morgan Dollar represents a Carson City Mint issue from the Morgan Dollars 1878-1921 series. With a mintage of 350,000, this is an extremely rare issue — the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 1% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. The 1889-CC with a mintage of 350,000 is one of the most popular Carson City Morgan Dollars. Coined at the Carson City Mint in Nevada, which operated for just 23 years (1870–1893) and produced coins now prized for their scarcity and Western provenance. S. numismatics.
