Description
1884-CC VAM-10 Far Date, Dash Under 8, CC Tilted Left Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, January 1981. Revised 2010. 10 (revised) III2 9 - C3d (Far Date, Dash Under 8, CC Tilted Left) (178) Obverse III2 9- Date set further right than normal. Tiny dash under 8 in date. Die marker - Short die scratch thru tip of wheat leaf below I in LIBERTY. Reverse C3d- Large CC mint mark tilted left. Raised polishing bars at field edge of eagle's left wing. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: This reverse shared with 1884-CC VAM-8 (In fact they are the exact same die pair...). As soon as the dash (on the 1884-CC VAM-10 has deteriorated/been polished to such an extent that there is NO dash - it becomes a 1884-CC VAM-10A (and is what is/was known as the 1884-CC VAM-8.
