Description
1882-S VAM-11 Doubled 882 & Cap Top, S Tilted Left, Gouge 8 Loop Discovered by Margaret Prang, February 1974. Revised 2017 11 (revised) III2 10 - C3b (Doubled 882 & Cap Top, S Tilted Left, Gouge 8 Loop) (187) Obverse III2 10 - Doubled 882 with left 8 strongly on left inside and slightly on right outside of upper loop with spikes between loops on both sides, right 8 strongly on left outside of upper loop and slightly at bottom outside of lower loop and has a die chip between loops on right side, and 2 on left side of upper loop. Phrygian cap slightly doubled on top edge. Die marker - Diagonal polishing lines in Y of LIBERTY. Reverse C3b - Die marker - Polishing lines in wing-neck gap. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Exact same obverse die used to produce 1882-S VAM-8, 1882-S VAM-11 & 1882-S VAM-22. There appear to be not less than 2 reverse dies used to produce the 1882-O VAM-11 (and another two to produce the 1882-S VAM-22). 1882-S VAMs-11.1,11.2,11A.22.1 & 22.2 are under review for renumbering...
