Description
1881-O VAM-4 Doubled 8-1 Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, May 1967. Obverse description revised November 2008. Revised 2017 4 (revised) III2 3 - C3a (Doubled 8-1) (176) Obverse III2 3- Left 8 slightly doubled at lower left inside of upper loop. Right 1 doubled at top and on lower right side of vertical bar as notch. Die marker -Single diagonal polishing line at bottom of Y in "LIBERTY". Reverse C3a - Die marker -X diagonal polishing lines on 5 and 6 inner feathers from bottom of eagle's left wing. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: 1881-O VAM-55 was eliminated in 2017, (incorporated in 1881-O VAM-4). Exact same pair of dies as 1881-O VAM-4A but unclashed.
