Description
1881-O VAM-3 Doubled 18-1, O Set Left Discovered by George Mallis, June 1965. 3(revised) III2 2 · C3l (Doubled 18-1, O Set Left) (176) Obverse III2 2– Doubled 18-1 in date. First 1 has doubled vertical bar on right side. Upper and lower loops of first 8 doubled on left inside and on surface on right outside. Right 1 has broken doubling diagonally across bottom left side of vertical shaft to center of base, possibly due to defective digit punch. Reverse C3l - O mint mark set left Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: 1881-O VAM-3 & 1881-O VAM-32 are evil mimics of each other. Both have strong doubling on 18 and O set left, but 1881-O VAM-3 has stronger doubling & an upright mint mark.
