Error
Description
Martin Field discovered this New Orleans Morgan dollar in September 1982, revised in 2011 as 25 (revised) III2 1 with a C3m reverse, designated O/O Right. The obverse shows very slight doubling of the nose, lips, chin, and front edge of the hair. The reverse C3m die provides the key diagnostics: the O mintmark is centered and tilted left, with doubling on the right inside and die chips on the lower right outside. The eagle's right wing and left wreath are over-polished. This reverse is shared with 1881-O VAM-10, but die chips on the lower outside of the mintmark appear only on VAM-25, not VAM-10, suggesting the chips developed after the reverse was separated from the VAM-10 obverse. This progression helps researchers sequence the two die marriages and documents the reverse die's evolution during its working life at the New Orleans facility. =1881-O VAM-25 O/O Right= Discovered by Martin Field, September 1982.
