1879-S VAM-30 S/S Far Left, Doubled Left Reverse Discovered by Martin Field, August 1979. 30(revised) III2 1 · C3i (S/S Far Left, Doubled Left Reverse) (182) Obverse III2 1 – Normal die of III2 type with closed 9. Reverse C3i – IV S mint mark doubled with short vertical spike at top middle of upper loop opening and curved line in middle of lower loop opening. S mint mark set slightly to right with slight tilt to left. Hub doubling same as C3b of 1878 P but different die than1878 P dies. Doubled UNITED STATES bottom inside, I of In at top, top right edge of eagle’s right wing and left edge of some leaves in left wreath.
