1879-S VAM-1B Hair Ribbon Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, September 1981. 1B III2 1 ∙ C3a (Hair Ribbon) I-2 R-3 Obverse III2 1 – Normal die. Horizontal die gouge through lower hair. Reverse C3a – Normal die. Comments: 1 - More Photos of this variety 79-S V1B Hi- Res Photos 2 - LFCP Below by OCC show a coin with a varient mm position that did not receive a separate listing. Within normal tolerance range. Large image closeup of the mm from that coin also below in image labeled "79-s v1b image z." 3 - Split into VAMs 1B1 and 1B2 in the summer of 2016 by a submission to LVA by Chris Simpson. 4 - Split into VAMs 106,107 and 107A Oct.2018 by a submission to LVA by Chris Simpson.
