1879-S VAM-17 Doubled Date and S/S Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 17 III2 9 ∙ C3f (Doubled Date) (185) Obverse III2 9 – Entire date slightly doubled on surface. 1 doubled at top right, 8 doubled at bottom right. 7 doubled on bottom of upper serif and right side of shaft plus very bottom. 9 is doubled at left outside of both loops. Reverse C3f – Filled IV S mint mark with top serif doubled on lower right side and slightly at very bottom.
