1879-S VAM-11 Bold Polishing Lines Hair, S/S Left Discovered by Richard Deters, September 1973. Revised 2010. Revised 2015 11 (revised) III2 1 ∙ C3c (Bold Polishing Lines Hair, S/S Left) (182) I-2 R-5 Obverse III2 1 – Strong die polishing lines throughout liberty head hair and in LIBERTY letters. Die marker- Tiny hooked die impression back of cheek. Reverse C3c – IV S mint mark doubled with a short vertical line within the upper loop on right inside and curved line on right inside of lower loop. Die marker- Diagonal polishing line inside wreath bow. Comments: 1. This reverse die was used on VAM-11 and VAM-12.
