Description

A pre-cud die crack is visible on the reverse of this 1867/67 overdate Indian Head cent. A pre-cud is a significant die crack that has not yet progressed to a full cud at the rim. In this case, the crack runs from 2 o'clock to 4 o'clock, with additional cracks extending from the top and bottom of the rim-to-rim portion. The 1867/67 overdate variety shows clear evidence of the date being repunched, with traces of the underlying "67" visible beneath the final date. This is one of the more dramatic date varieties in the Indian Head cent series.
