Description
Class I CCW spread shows on USA, eagle's beak, eye, and talons. Die Markers: Obverse: Short die gouge north from upper right O in F. Reverse: Die crack upper left middle leaf north to rim. Die crack bottom right lead SE to rim.Submitted By: William R. Van Note (Discovered by Delma K. Romines)Cross References: Snow: S21; CONECA: DDO-012; Flynn: DDO-003 Obverse: Doubling on center bottom of M in AMERICA and the broken wing tip distinguishes this variety from other 1857 1¢ doubled die varieties.
