Description

An unusual die crack is visible on the obverse of this 1797 Draped Bust large cent of the Reverse of 1797 with Stems variety. Unusual die cracks differ from standard rim-to-rim cracks in that they follow irregular paths, branch, or form distinctive patterns on the coin's surface. In this case, two die cracks run from the rim, one through the neck running back through the hair of Liberty and the other running up around her nose to her eyes. There are also scattered die chips and unusual thickness in the die cracks.
