2024 VDDR VDDR-002

Description

Among the first doubled die reverse varieties cataloged for the 2024-P Zitkala-Ša American Women Quarter, VDDR-002 exhibits medium westward spread on the upper right braid and lower sash — design elements honoring Zitkala-Ša, the Yankton Dakota writer, musician, educator, and activist who championed Native American rights in the early twentieth century. The clad American Women Quarter series differs in composition from the earlier 90% silver Washington Quarter issues. Three die stages are documented. Stage A is early die state, currently unconfirmed. Stage B is the most marker-rich phase: a small die chip appears above the bird's neck, a small die chip sits on the forehead above the eye, and a small die chip is present at the corner of the mouth — three independent chip markers confirming early mid-die state. Stage C is late die state, currently unconfirmed. The Stage B cluster of die chips — neck, forehead, and mouth — provides a multi-point identification framework across varying preservation states.
