The 2024 (D) Greatest Generation Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. With a mintage of just 7,621, this is a scarce issue sought by specialists. Part of the Greatest Generation three-coin program, this half dollar connects the wartime Victory Medal imagery to the modern memorial. The obverse features a reimagining of the figure of Liberation from the WWII Victory Medal, while the reverse displays the National WWII Memorial from the point of view of a person walking up a ramp to one of the towers. Designed by Elana Hagler and Craig A. Campbell (obverse), Matt Swaim and John P. McGraw (reverse). Struck in nickel clad copper-n, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #936834. The Greatest Generation half dollar offers a visitor's perspective of the WWII Memorial, inviting viewers to experience the monument's grandeur.
