The 2022 (D) Negro Leagues Baseball Commemorative Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. With a mintage of just 7,040, this is a scarce issue sought by specialists. Part of the Negro Leagues Baseball three-coin program, this half dollar's bus imagery addresses the discrimination players faced while traveling. The obverse features a ballplayer at bat with a team bus below, referencing the buses that served as both transportation and shelter when hotels refused accommodation, while the reverse displays five Negro Leagues Baseball players standing together with bats and gloves. Designed by Chris Costello and John P. McGraw (obverse), Justin Kunz and Phebe Hemphill (reverse). Struck in nickel clad copper-n, 30.6 mm in diameter. Cataloged as PCGS #904473.
