Description
The 2019 (D) Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. Part of the Apollo 11 three-coin curved program, this half dollar shares the same groundbreaking designs as the dollar. The obverse features a concave design with 'Mercury,' 'Gemini,' and 'Apollo' program references and a lunar footprint, while the reverse displays a convex close-up of Buzz Aldrin's visor from the Moon landing photograph. Designed by Gary Cooper/Phebe Hemphill. Struck in copper-nickel, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #697683. The Apollo 11 half dollar brings the stunning curved-coin technology and visor design to a more affordable denomination.
