Description

Attributed as Wexler 2017-P 25c MO WDDR-022, this doubled die reverse on a 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter shows strong doubling on the right side of the tree to the left of the angling roof in the mill building design. Obverse die markers include a northwest-southeast die scratch through the left side of the A in STATES and a die gouge below the M in AMERICA. Reverse markers include a die gouge to the right of the R in QUARTER. The Ozark Riverways quarter depicts Alley Mill, a historic grist mill along the spring-fed streams of the Missouri Ozarks, and the tree adjacent to the angling roofline provides a clear focal point where the doubling is most visible. The twenty-second DDR documented for this date reflects active variety research on the America the Beautiful Quarter program, which ran from 2010 through 2021 with five new reverse designs each year. Struck in clad composition at the Philadelphia Mint. Attributed by the Wexler team. Die gouge in the water just below the corner of the below.Submitted By: James CassinCross References: None known Obverse: None significant.
