Description

Moderate extra thickness on LIBERTY combined with light extra thickness on the date characterizes this 2015 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Shield Cent doubled die obverse. The differential intensity between the motto and the date suggests the hub displacement concentrated more strongly in the LIBERTY zone while tapering toward the date numerals lower on the obverse. Distinctive notches on the lower left of the letters E, R, T, and Y in LIBERTY provide a particularly diagnostic feature — small step-like indentations along the letter edges where the secondary hub impression offset from the primary creates visible interruptions in the stroke contour. Die markers include a gouge between the D in GOD and the W in WE, plus a gouge between the lower zero and one in the date, providing precise obverse attribution points. The Shield Cent design, introduced in 2010, presents Lincoln's familiar portrait alongside legends that register doubled die effects with clarity. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 2015 1c WDDO-026.
