Description

WDDO-024 on the 2015 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent shows moderate extra thickness on LIBERTY and the date, with notches visible on the lower left of the ERTY. Obverse Stage A die markers: an arching die scratch running above and SSE from the rim above the E of WE; a die chip below and to the right of the 5 of the date. Obverse Stage B die markers: an additional die scratch from SSE of the W to above the E of WE. Wexler Variety ID: 2015 1¢ WDDO-024. The Lincoln Shield cent reverse, introduced in 2010, carries a Union Shield design by Lyndall Bass replacing the bicentennial reverses of 2009. Moderate extra thickness on LIBERTY and the date is consistent with a mechanical or Class VIII doubling, where repeated hub contact produces thickening without discrete separation. The notching on the lower left of ERTY is the sharpest diagnostic feature. Stage A and Stage B die scratch progression at the WE motto provides a sequencing tool for collectors tracking the die's working life. No additional cross-references are known beyond the Wexler attribution.
