Description

The strongest known doubled die obverse for 2015 Lincoln Shield cents, DDO-001 (UVC-3372, DMR-002) shows a strong southeast spread on the date, LIBERTY, and IN GOD WE TRUST — doubled images appear below and to the right of each element, producing a bold shelf effect visible at modest magnification. Four stages are documented: Stage A has both sides in early die state; Stage B shows a light die crack south from the 0 in the date; Stage C brings a die break on the upper left shield edge above the I in PLURIBUS; Stage D remains unconfirmed. The Union Shield reverse introduced in 2010 features a geometric design where cracks propagate along the shield's horizontal and vertical rules, and the Stage C break follows this pattern. The 2015 Philadelphia cent was struck in copper-plated zinc in enormous quantities, making the base coin common, but DDO-001's strong spread ensures it remains a top cherrypicking target. Focus on LIBERTY and the date numerals for southeast displacement.
