2015 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Shad Lundal discovered this 2015 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel — the first doubled die reverse cataloged for the date under the designation WDDR-001. The variety exhibits Class VIII Tilted Hub Doubling with close spread on the right side of the Monticello building and the designer's initials FS, Felix Schlag's monogram from the original 1938 design competition. Close spread indicates a subtle hub tilt during die impression, producing a secondary image near the primary that requires magnification to resolve against the architectural lines. Die markers include a die gouge above the NT of CENTS, a die dot above the left arch, and a die dot near the dome — three reverse diagnostics providing confident die identification.
