2014 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-016

Description

Sharing the same year, mint, doubling class, and attribution expert as the WDDR-015, the 2014 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson nickel WDDR-016 presents a second Class VIII tilted hub DDR affecting the center door area above the steps of Monticello. While both varieties show tilted hub doubling on the central entrance, the WDDR-016 affects the upper portion of the door frame and originates from a different working die with distinct die markers. No significant obverse markers have been noted. On the reverse, die cracks appear on the left edge of the building and in the field to its left, a small die gouge sits below the first O of MONTICELLO, and another small die gouge appears below the R of PLURIBUS. These diagnostics, particularly the die cracks along the building edge, distinguish the WDDR-016 from the WDDR-015 and its rim-area die gouges.
