2014 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-010

Description

Continuing the pattern of Monticello doorway doubling seen across multiple dates, this 2014-P Jefferson Nickel DDR-010 displays medium spread to the south creating an extra central doorway roof. Die markers include UVC-1830 and DMR-011. Three die stages have been recorded: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state; Stage B at mid-die state (unconfirmed); and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). The confirmed early die state at Stage A provides the clearest impression of the doubled architectural detail. The recurrence of southward doorway roof doubling across Jefferson Nickel dates from 2008 through 2014 reflects the consistent vulnerability of Monticello's horizontal roofline to hub displacement in the north-south axis during die production. Each variety represents a distinct die with its own unique set of markers, despite the similar visual presentation of the doubling. DDR-010 can be differentiated from its counterparts on other dates through its specific UVC and DMR codes and any die-state-specific markers that develop through the die's service life.
