2014 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002

Description

Strong spread toward the Southwest creates an extra left central doorway roof and bottom window frame on the Monticello reverse of this 2014 Philadelphia Jefferson Nickel, making DDR-002 one of the more visually prominent doubled dies in the Return to Monticello era that began in 2006. Die markers cataloged under UVC-1820 and DMR-003 track three stages: Stage A with both reverse and obverse at Early Die State, Stage B at Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The architectural elements of Monticello — particularly the doorways, window frames, and pediment — provide exceptionally precise reference points for doubled die identification because their straight lines and right angles make even small hub displacement clearly visible against the geometric framework.
