About This Coin
The 2011 Presidential Dollar is a United States dollar from the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year, while the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. Designed by Various designers for each president / Don Everhart (reverse). Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. The Presidential Dollar Program (2007-2016, continuing with deceased presidents) issued dollar coins honoring each president in chronological order. Edge-incused inscriptions replaced obverse text. Initially struck for circulation, the coins were relegated to collector-only production from 2012 onward due to low demand. The 2007 Washington dollar "Godless Dollar" error (missing edge inscription) attracted widespread media attention. Position A and Position B edge lettering varieties are collected.
