2008 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

Philadelphia's counterpart to the Denver-struck WDDR-010, this specimen on the 2008 John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar carries Position B edge lettering — the orientation where the edge inscription reads normally when rotated with the obverse facing away. The doubling appears at the identical location: the intersection of the 2nd ray clockwise from Liberty's head and her right arm, confirming the same hub was used across both mints. Die markers mirror those of the Denver issue — a small die gouge between the upper 8 and 2 in 1829 on the obverse and a dot-like die gouge west of the lower dollar sign on the reverse. Philadelphia struck substantial quantities of Presidential Dollars during the 2007-2011 program, and the appearance of the same doubled die hub variety at both mints demonstrates how a single defective hub could propagate identical doubling across multiple working dies shipped to different facilities.
